Listen to Episode 18

Dance Fight!

If you like smokey music videos from the 80’s… boy is this a Babylon for you. Sheridan gets fully hoodwinked by Garibaldi and his Mars hate crew. Garibaldi lies to Sheridan about his father then drugs him and gets a gang of future-tuffs to kick his ass.

THis is truly a series highlight for me and we got to share it with someone who you’ll be hearing more from as we go forward.

This Week’s Guest

Ait Fetterolf is an award-winning filmmaker living near Chicago.

Ait Fetterolf There are many other monikers I could have gone with, but Ait asked me to use "award-winning filmmaker". Check out the episode for more on that.

Ait is a fellow teacher at school of rock and we occasionally play together in a cover band. We already have a couple more appearances with Ait brewing up in the podlab, so hope his dulcet tones are as soothing to you as Dre’s.

Enough of that, time for paint

The series came together quickly. The last two got finished this week and now everyone is looking their best.

In their Sunday best As they were meant to be
Good Grip Feels good in the hand, too

For Joe, I took the design from the original Isiah Thomas card and converted it to primary and secondary color columns. It was a good way to practice mixing color shades in the columns.

Joe Dumars Joe Dumars, lit up in a column rainbow

Star Lord was another new approach. I saw a few decorative stained glass pieces with that circle pattern design. I wanted to reference both the lines in the original GOTG movie where Rocket calls them all assholes standing around in a circle. I loved the callback to that in Vol 2 where almost every scene features a member of the team framed in a circle. GO back and watch Vol 2 again. It Rips. Nothing like seeing a Space Racoon wearing people clothes crying at a Space Funeral and goddamnit I’m crying too now.

Star Lord Just another asshole, standing in a circle

Mike’s Image Picks

Edgars uses faulty logic to convince Garibaldi to turn on Sheridan. I just saw the Running Man remake by Edgar Wright which has similar scenes of a powerful man convincing someone of lower class to act against their self-interest. If only it was scored by Edgar Winter and we’d have a hat trick.

Waaaaaa! No, he won't

Mackie should have had a bigger role on the show. He’s a charismatic semi-regular former Earthforce officer that deserted for the Alliance. It’s more convincing than having Sheridan shouting at everyone. Plus he was a good presence on the show.

I'm Mackie, Damnit! And he's not afraid to take it straight

Number One is non-plussed at seeing that the weapons against Earth are people.

Corpse Warfare This deal just got a lot worse... and stranger

Garibaldi fully breaks bad.

Officer Former-Mullethead How could you not trust a former mulletted officer showing off the fivehead?

Dance Fight!!!!

Mortal Combat How deep is your love... of smokey-room violence

Edgars reveals his plan to pull a Bolliver Trask on the Telepaths. And tell me this isn’t just X-Men all over again.

X-Men We will prove Homo Superior is not the future of our race... I mean Telepaths

Harlan Ellison is there as a Psycorp guard.

It My Show Was he always just Mind Controlling JMS? Is Ellison the Bester of real-life B5 Drama?!?

Yep, it was Bester all along.

Hello, Mr. Garibaldi Bester and Londo have the same vocal warmup to get into character

As always, Ivonava has to be the biggest badass and clean up after the boys.

Don't fuck with Susan Ivonava Whadda Badass!

What Did We Learn?

We still have 80’s music videos in the future
