YGCTO Episode 11 - War Without End
Babylon 5 Season 3 Episodes 16 & 17: War Without End
This Week’s Guest
Karl Wolf
Karl Wolf is a singer and Babylon 5 enthusiast living in Detroit.
Memory Holes
Karl was a close friend of mine for most of my first two years of college. We shared a dorm room and Karl introduced me to much of my early friend circle. In the episode, Karl tells the story of how we would take road trip s to Lansing to get giant burritos and eat them during Babylon 5. Aptly named “The Five Pounds of Meal Club”.
I had completely choked out this memory of the Babylon 5 burrito trip as I only went on the burrito run a few times. It’s not surprising as after Karl left college, I still had 2.5 years left and went on to completely change my friend group.
When we recorded the episode, I hadn’t seen or spoken to Karl since 1997. Twenty-eight years had passed. But it’s true about certain friends, that time doesn’t matter. Karl is one of those friends and we picked right back up.
I visited home for Thanksgiving soon after the recording. Karl and I met up in person halfway between my folks’ place in the north suburbs and where he’s at. We ended up hanging out for almost three hours catching up for real off-mic. It’s good to know you can hold on to the right people forever sometime.
